Manual testing is useful when you launch or change a form. Automated form testing handles the repeated checks that are easy to put off once the website is live.
1. Add your website and form pages
Add a website in FormTester 365, then enter the URLs of the pages with forms you want to test. FormTester 365 scans each page for forms so you can select the right one. Start with the contact, enquiry, or quote forms your business relies on. For client sites, add the form pages your agency is responsible for checking.
2. Decide what a successful test should prove
Standard tests check browser submission success. The Gravity Forms add-on can verify and delete test entries through the REST API. Where notification settings allow it, a form-specific BCC monitoring address can track receipt of a copy. A received copy does not prove that the primary recipient got the message. Choose the checks your workflow needs, and account for notifications or other actions that live test submissions may trigger.
3. Set a schedule and time
Choose daily, weekly, or monthly testing and the time of day for each test to run. Daily testing is available on every plan. A failure is detected when a scheduled test runs, so choose a frequency that matches how quickly you need to know about a problem.
4. Choose your notifications
Choose the kinds of FormTester 365 notifications you want to receive. Make sure the people who can investigate failures receive the alerts, and decide how your team will handle any notification that the tested form itself sends.
5. Review the first results
Check that the test can complete your particular form, including extra steps, CAPTCHA, or actions that reveal it. Review the screenshot, the browser or content-verification result, the inputs and values used, and any add-on results. Use the free trial to confirm that the setup works for your site.
6. Make failures actionable
When a test fails, review the error and any suggested fix in the dashboard, then investigate the form on its live page. After a fix, run another test and confirm the result. Learn how to inspect a failed form test.
